We’re down to the Sweet 16. The last 16 schools alive for the Men’s Division I National Championship.

East Region

Duke takes on St. John’s Friday. A matchup of a #1 seed against a #5 seed. This is followed by #2 UConn taking on #3 Michigan State. That would be one heckuva Final 4, let alone a Regional final 4.

Seed School Rank Elite 8 % Final 4 % Championship %
1 Duke 2 65.917% 42.132% 15.847%
2 UConn 5 51.490% 21.785% 5.151%
3 Michigan State 8 48.510% 19.766% 4.343%
5 St. John’s 11 34.083% 16.317% 3.312%

South Region

Florida, the #1 seed in the south and defending national champions were eliminated in the second round by Iowa. #2 seed Houston is now the highest seed in the South. It doesn’t seem fair that Houston has to play #3 seed Illinois, while #4 seed Nebraska and #9 seed Iowa go at it. But that’s how the brackets roll.

Seed School Rank Sweet 16 % Final 4 % Championship %
2 Houston 4 55.513% 33.362% 7.413%
3 Illinois 12 44.487% 24.239% 4.134%
4 Nebraska 10 63.209% 29.852% 5.303%
9 Iowa 30 36.791% 12.547% 1.086%

Midwest Region

Michigan has looked dominant in their first two games. They may finally get tested this weekend as they face #4 seed Alabama Friday night. #2 seed Iowa State faces #6 seed Tennessee in the other game.

Seed School Rank Sweet 16 % Final 4 % Championship %
1 Michigan 3 67.743% 45.549% 16.141%
2 Iowa State 7 59.655% 25.240% 5.202%
4 Alabama 14 32.257% 15.950% 2.731%
6 Tennessee 20 40.345% 13.261% 1.680%

West Region

Arizona rolled through their first two games. They are the #1 seed in the West and are ranked #1 in my rankings as they face #4 seed Arkansas. The other regional semifinal will be #2 Purdue taking on the lowest seeded team left, #11 Texas.

Seed School Rank Sweet 16 % Final 4 % Championship %
