My 2025 college football rankings are finally here! I needed to make sure all the schools had played enough games to keep things from looking too crazy as they tend to be early in the season.
Not surprising to me, Indiana tops the field. They have been spectacular in September. Rounding out the top 5 are Oklahoma, Miami (FL), Ohio State and Vanderbilt.

Old Dominion comes in at #12 due to their 13 point loss to Indiana and their thumping of Virginia Tech.

Speaking of the Hokies, their season appeared over after their debacle against ODU. But bring in a new head coach and they win back to back games including last nights win over NC State. And the fact that their three losses have been to South Carolina, Vanderbilt and ODU, they come in at #36 in my rankings. With their ACC schedule, if they can half three or four more games this season, they might just finish in my top 40.

Let’s keep it in the state. Virginia has been a huge surprise this year. They are #24 in this week’s rankings. Tony Elliott did a fantastic job of getting players out of the portal. I think most pundits had UVA picked towards the bottom of the ACC, but this may be the best UVA team in at least a decade.

No surprise in the conference rankings. The SEC is on top followed by the Big 10. The SEC has 5 of the top 10 teams and 8 of the top 25. The Big 10 has 4 of the top 10 teams and 7 of the top 25. The Big 12 puts 5 teams in the top 25. The ACC puts 3 teams in the top 25.
